Feeling Stuck? Do This.

I was watching a very interesting podcast the other day that was talking about just how much time we waste carrying around mental baggage, unnecessary intrusive thoughts, and loads of ideas that do not improve the quality of our life experience.

Habits that are both destructive and energy-consuming. It is normal to want to feel that you are doing things that matter to you but also that facilitate your growth if you're into self-development like me.

However, on your journey to becoming a better man you're going to discover that time is your most valuable resource therefore you cannot be devoting your precious time to activities or things that do not have a higher return on your time investment.

One of the most time-consuming activities that I have struggled with on my journey is trying to manage intrusive thoughts that cause me to lose focus on what I am doing at any given moment and to stay on track in particular when I have work to do.

Then I discovered a trick that works for me every time I find myself wandering away in my mind, I just ask myself a simple question, the thoughts that I'm having right now where are they coming from?

Are they arising from the past that is no longer here? Are they coming from the present moment and what I am doing? Or are they projections into the future that I did not know about?

If the answer is they're anchored either in the past or the future I simply remind myself that I have no control of either point in time, the only control I have is in the now the present what is happening right in front of me.

So if I could ground myself in the present for as long as possible then my mind will have no choice but to settle down to this moment which is the only reality that exists, both the past and their future do not exist anywhere else other than in my mind.

Your mind is a tool that is either sharp or blunt, is your ally not your enemy, if you keep it sharp it will serve you well, if you let it remain blunt and dull it is going to frustrate you and create unnecessary hell.

There are many things that you can do to quiet your mind, but in this article, I will only mention two things, introspection and moving your body. I will talk about introspection in another article.

Exercise has been a fantastic way of integrating my mind and body as one entity, not two separate entities fighting each other for my attention. Not only is exercise a proactive way to distract thoughts, but it is an amazing testosterone booster.
